Ingredients

- Water – I like to use water but you can swap it out for milk to add extra protein, vitamin C, calcium and calories! It will also add a great rich flavour if you use 2% milk!
- Vanilla Protein Powder – I recommend Vanilla Cream Premier Protein powder for its delicious flavour. But you can use any type of vanilla protein powder that you like. I find that vanilla flavour works the best in this recipe.
- Ground Flax Seed – These add some great healthy fats and fibre to the recipe, but you can switch out for hemp hearts, crushed walnuts, or avocado.
- Strawberries – You can use fresh or frozen for this recipe, frozen will make it a thicker texture more like a milkshake.
- Bananas – You can use fresh or frozen as well, frozen will also add a nice thick texture just like the strawberries.
Steps to Make
Step #1
Place all the ingredients in a blender and run it for 1-2 minutes depending on how strong your blender is. It should be a smooth texture when you’re finished.
Substitutions
Yogurt – Adding a creamy greek yogurt to the mix will add some extra protein and creaminess to the smoothie. Add 1/2 cup to get the perfect texture to your mixture!
Strawberries – You can add in any type of berry that you like to this smoothie! Frozen mixed berries would work perfectly in this smoothie as well.
Recipe Tips
Tip #1: Adding the frozen ingredients last to your smoothie will help it blend better. Some blenders have a hard time if the frozen items are at the bottom, so add these ingredients last.
